Water Pump "burps" every 10 min

Very annoying problem with this "burping". I have followed every line both hot and cold on the pressure side and cannot find a leak. I re tighten everything. Bilge is dry. Could it be the pump? It's a variable speed.

What make of pump? Jabsco has had big problems with theirs, at least on the C355s.

I had a leak that wasn't at a hose clamp. Old 28 years hose cracked along a hidden part under the engine bed. I replaced all the hoses.

Burping Water Pump

Hi Bob, ditto here. Ours needed a new check valve based upon my discussion with the pump maker tech. I did end up buying a new pump and used the repaired pump (did it myself, easy to do with basic tools) as a spare.

Our pump was a Flojet brand. The maker sent me a replacement check valve that came with instructions. I bought a new 4405 from Defender. Very happy with the outcome.

Adjust the mixing valve on the water tank.

On a Hunter there is a anti-scolding valve on the water tank that mixes the hot water with cold water before going to the hot water line. It's used to prevent scolding because the water is never hot enough to scold you. In Hunter's case, red colored hot water poly line. At least that's what on a Hunter 33 Legend.

The valve need adjustment after a winter storage. Mark the spot, turn the knob a few turns counterclockwise and the burping will stop. In a few days, turn it back to the original setting.

There's some air got trapped in the valve.

To stop "annoyance" turn it off at the panel when not "in use." That will also stop excessive leaking b/c the system will not stay pressurized. Finding the leak and fixing it is a different matter, however.

I do turn it off, drives me nuts. I'll check Valve on water heater. I don't winterize but occasionally drain the system and run a weak bleach wash. thru it.

Mine does the same thing, but not so frequently. The last time I found the leak at the HW heater where the tubing had become brittle and cracked. This time, no luck so far! I now keep the HW switch off unless I need, or anticipate need for, HW. Does not take long to heat w/ AC.

With an older pump it could be leaking back through the valves in the pump. That will cause the pump to cycle without water leaking out anywhere.
