I'd second/third the vent for the water tank being clogged. Open the filler cap to vent and see if the pump runs okay. Otherwise, I'd think maybe something floats near the bottom of the tank that gets sucked onto the output tube until new water flushed it back away.

You're losing prime due to air getting into the system between your tank and the pump.
check all the connections to be sure they're bubble tight. check all the strainers on the tank outlets. As well if you have a manual foot or hand pump in the galley it may be the culprit if the rubber diaphragm has a tear.

The accumulator tank has a air valve simular to the valve on a tire. You use a tire pump or air compressor to install the air charge in the bladder to about 10 lbs. Again, it has been many years ago that we did this so look for the pressure setting on the accum tank or in the directions for the tank. Once that air charge is entered it stays at that pressure forever or until the tank is out of warrenty. This is the same as any home that has its own well. Pump, pressure tank and then the faucets.

One comment on Ray's procedure - it's best to charge the accumulator when the pump is switched off and the pressure relieved. Otherwise the pump pressure will hold the bladder pressure up instead of letting it expand as it should.

I've gathered from the various good replies I've gotten that my problem is likely air entering on the supply side, so I have to do my homework and figure out how this is happening. While I'm doing this I'm also waiting for the accumulator that I ordered which should make things better in the long run. I still have to track down my problem but many thanks to all the folks who offered such thoughtful replies.

My C30 has a small check valve between the pump and the tanks...any possibility (assuming you have one there also) that could have failed and after your tanks are down a bit the pump can overcome the head and send water back into the tank(s)? Just a thought.
