Here is a picture of a device to fill the ballast or water tank makes the operation much easier. I promised the picture a while ago but it took a while to get me and the camera down to the boat at the same time.

How does that device make filling a tank easier

just sticking a hose into the fill fitting? I can't see much from the photo...but it appears to be just a pipe with a shut off valve on it that attaches to a hose...what am I missing other than, the shutoff valve makes it possible to cut off the water without having to go to the faucet?

It is a Vinyl Hose and Shut off Valve for all of 3 Bucks, Well Worth It

For water tanks that fill inside the boat under the galley that are a little difficult to get to like on our 23.5 it helps. The biggest help is on ballast tanks where the vent hole is the same size as the end of the hose it helps alot if you want to fill the ballast tank with city water.

Aha...THAT's what I was missing

On boats that have no deckfills, getting to the faucet in time to shut off the water before the tank can overflow and soak the inside of the boat can be difficult...that li'l $3 doodad solves that problem. Clever! And I doubt it would be possible to make one any cheaper.

Got it where???

Rick: I thought I might find this at Home Depot - no Joy... where did you get it again? I hope to find a truck that will tow my boat to a local launching area and get sailing soon!!! Thanks and fair winds, Bill

I'll Keep an Eye Out for Them

I bought mine at the BX here at Eglin. I am sure they are available other places, an RV dealer maybe?

Thanks Rick

I will be taking my Catalina 270LE to the Okaloosa Boat Show next week - trying to sell her so I can afford this Hunter!! Will be sailing her over next Tuesday - they are building a bunch of floating docks behind the new convention center on the island. Take care, Bill
