Actually the best way with the 170 (because of the open transom) was to hang my legs of& the back end and kick my feet.

Now would that be a scissor kick or a flutter kick ?
Or maybe even a frog kick ?

If the OP had Boat US or Sea tow with the home port provision he would get a tow home. The cost would be less than two or nights in a marina. I don't know if those services are available in his area. But generally if you are stranded the checkbook flys open.
