water leaks on 47-3

hello
just looking to see if other 47-3 owners have experienced leaking at the stainless steel shaft tube where the shaft exits the hull. is the stainless steel
tube one piece thru to the dripless baring? we have only owned this boat for a short while..... the tube protrudes the hull approx. 6" (w2 Phillips head h screws) or so and surrounds the
rubber strut baring..........

Not sure about 473's but this has been an isolated problem with 423's. The fiberglass tube that holds the shaft has leaked on some boats because of voids in the glassing of the membrane to the hull/skeg.

You may want to join the 423 Yahoo Group and access the archived files for a solution. There are a number of 473 owners on this site and except for the size the boats are nearly identical.
