Hi all, I recently purchased a 1986 o'day 31 and have a question about cabin leaks. The upper cabin walls are covered with a nappy type of material that has black stains in a number of places. There is a fiberglass ceiling in this boat that does not allow inspection for the thru bolts for the stansions and bow and stern rails. The owners manual calls for tightening the bolts every month or so, in order to compress the rubber gaskets that are under the stantion bases. There is also no way of inspecting the genoa track thru bolts for leaks.Any one know whats below deck that these bolts are into? can you remove the stantions and buy new rubber gaskets with out the nuts falling into someplace you can not get to? Also what is best to remove these stains from the wall covering? I love the way this boat sails and also the cabin lay out, but really have to do something about the cabin water leaks. I would appreciate hearing from any one with information on the subject of leaks in an o'day. Thanks, Bill

welcome to ODay 30 ownership! drip drip drip..

welcome aboard William! I also have a O30. the stanchion bolts are accessable but you have to pull the carpet off at the top. you will find that you need offset or bent wrenches or double joints in your hands to get to them! Most of the leaks we found came from the lexan window to cabin seal. The carpet gets real nasty with years and years of mildew. I plan to replace that someday. the aft railings leak at the deck bolts too. Good luck! Denise
