Water leaking into cabin

I have just purchsed a 1997 250 in excellent condition, as you might expect in a boat of this age. It has what appears to be water stains on the cabin sole below the companionway. It appears to me that there is a space between the sliding poptop and the board, in the corners where the cover meets the board. It appears that this space is large enough that any appreciable rain storm will cause water to flow through and drop onto the sole. Not enough to cause a flood or anything but enough to stain. Suggestions?

weatherstriping

Hi John, You might try a roll of closed cell foam weatherstriping. Not the whole roll of course but a piece with the adhesive on the backside , just peel the paper tape away and attach it to where the space is droping the water in at. You could place it on either the sliding hatch itself or the top of the board which ever location seems to keep out the rain or hose water if you are washing the deck down. hope this helps, Dave LaPere
