water leak quarter berth

I have a 27 catalina and have discovered that there a water leak in the starboard 1/4 berth. It appears to run down the bulkhead and puddle under the bunk cushion. I've searched for the leak but can't find the source. Has anyone else had this problem ? Help Thanks Derek.

Sources for Leaks

Derek, check these areas:1.)Stern rail bases2.)stanchion bases3.)Toe rail track for genoa cars4.)Starboard winch5.)Companion way hatchboardsI had a leak that would not go away until I finally removed and re-sealed the starboard winch. It will leak directly onto the berth cushion.While you are are it, take the winch home, strip and clean it, and repack it with grease. It will sound and function like a brand new one.Best of Luck, and post back with your findings!Rob

Be sure to clean the others too

One of the best ways to keep your pockets full of money is to maintain your equipment. I took off my winches to do the first cleaning job but I was also painting my boat at the time. I just repacked them this summer (3 years) and they were almost as clean as the first time - but I live in a mild freshwater environment.Also, if you ever get another mysterious leak over there, check your shore power fitting. Mine was leaking pretty badly and I fixed it but 2 years later it was leaking again.LaDonna
