I have a 87 C-30 HIN CTYN48800787 that I recently purchased.  I have noticed water accumulating in the cabin floor just outside the wood framing for the compression post.  My guess is that the water is coming in from the mast base and possibly any wiring pass throughs. I do not see any sign of water stains around the chainplates, but have noticed a little water in the shower drain as well, so I have narrowed my search to the mast/compression post.  I have drilled a small hole at the base of the mast to attempt to allow the water to drain before it back up in the mast.  Can you suggest any other fix or will the mast have be removed at next haul out to rebed the base?

Could be from a stanchion base

I had water at accumulating near the compression post on our C27. I was in the cabin during a heavy rain and found that water was trickling in through the bolt holes of a starboard stanchion. The nuts for this particular stanchion were hidden behind the cabinet in the head. The water ran down the side, behind the cabinetry. I wouldn't have found it had I not been on the boat when it was raining. Good luck with your search.

Another possibility...

Mike, Congratulations on the new boat!! I have the same phenomenon and, after 3 years of searching, have realized that it comes from a leaky porthole in the head over the sink. The water drips onto the countertop, runs down the bulkhead in the head, seeps underneath & onto the sole in the main salon near the compression post. The water also leaks forward into the v-berth and gets under the cushion. I'm planning on replacing it this winter. Allen Schweitzer s/v Falstaff C-30 Hull# 632

Water from the mast support

Just some thoughts for your search. If you had a poor seal around the mast electrical wires that enter the wood mast post at the cabin top, I would expect the water to run down the hole in the wood post that the wires pass through, and end up in your bilge. Check where the wires exit in the bilge. If you had a leak in the mast support base on you cabin top, I would expect the water to saturate the wood layer in your deck, and start to give brown stains on the roof of the cabin interior around the mast area.
