How do you drain the water out of the inside of the boat? There is about 4 inches of water under the steps, sitting around the hole. As well there is water under the king sized berth. When you lift up the wooden covers you can see the water sitting there. The question is how to drain the water from inside the boat? Thanks, Will

Draining water

One way to get water out is the old sponge and bucket method. Your manual bilge pump should also do the trick. But if you are close to shore power those wet/dry shop vacks work great too.

dry bilge

You should have a manual bilge pump on board at all times. This will remove all but about 1 inch under the galley, and 1 inch uner the aft dinette seat. The remainder is done with ald towels or the sponge and bucket method. Do not sail with that much water in the boat. The wieght shift on heelng could be dangerous to stability and to the battery or other electrics mounted low. After removal, use a hose on the outside to determine where the wate is coming from and fix it. The X bilge should always he dry, except after periods of heavy condensation, in which case, you should open the covers on all hatches and inspection plates to let the boat dry out. To do otherwise is inviting trouble with mildew and wiring corrosion.

Attawood Pump

Attwood makes a small pump powered by 3 d cell batteries it is available at you local lowes or home depot for about 40 bucks... 200 gallons an hour with a 5 hour battery life... it will get most of the water out... then its towels sponges and good old evaporation to do the rest..

Cheap way

You can always take your garden hose and start a siphon. Not fast, but once started it will remove the water while you wax or relax.

I use a shopvac too but it gets real heavy

when it's full. If your vac hose is long enough, you can stick it in the water, start the vac and yank the hose out and place it on or close to the ground to siphon all the water out without filling the vac.
