I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THE WATER COMES FROM. HAD THE BOAT PULLED AND BOTTOMPAINTED AND NO WATER LEAKED OUT SO MAYBE IT IS COMING THROUGH THE STANCHIONS?? NO BIG DEAL AS EASILY PUMPED IN A FEW SECONDS BUT AM CURIOUS WHERE IT IS COMING FROM. ONLY WHNE IT RAINS..INTEWRESTING

Dave, Not sure about the Oday 25 - is the mast keel-stepped? If so it could be coming down the mast. I checked on my 28 yesterday, it has been out of the water for the winter and the bilge was full. The only thing I can figure is the water came down the mast or, as you said, through the stancions or chainplates. Of course, if you get some of the sideways rain that Florida is famous for, it could also be coming in under the companionway hatch. I've had that problem as well.

It's a big deal
Dave, water in the bildge is a big deal. I have spent the last two years bringing my 25 O'day back to sailing life. It's previuos owner had the same outlook on water in the bilge, that was until the chain plates started pulling out of the bulkheads. Thats were I would start, check the chainplates, you should pull the hull liner back at the bulkhead for a good look. Check the anchor locker drain hose in the V-berth, check all through hull fittings and hoses, if they are old REPLACE THEM! Another overlooked spot is the rubrail, the screws that hold it on go right through the hull and water will leak in. The hull liner will be stained were it is leaking. I have a no water "in the bilge" policy,I check my bilge every time I first get on the boat and so far she is dry as a bone! I found my leaks one sunny afternoon with the boat still on the trailer. I got the lawn sprinkler out, set it on the tabernackle, grabbed a few cold ones and turned on the water. Good luck Doug

Dave, this is a big leak and I would guess that the hose between the cockpit drain and the transom is the culprit. It is a bear to get to, but it would be capable of allowing that much water in undetected. PM

Crawl back through your lazarette and poke your head around the corner of the floor pan, near the transom. Have someone up top pour a quart of water onto the floor pan and if the boat is tipped back watch it run into the floor drain. If it is like mine was, the hose had rotted off and it fell directly into the bilge. I replaced mine with a car rad hose of correct diameter. Don

i found the problem!!!
chainplates were loose. put some silicon around them and a very small expense then hosed the boar down good and came back after two days of hard rain and she was dry as a bone!!! now onto other things like anew tiller and topping lift
