1978 boat, new to me. There is water in the cutty and between hull and deck in main area. No manual. What is the preferred way to remove the water from both areas? Have removed plug at rear of boat and no water came out even though boat is tilted back. I've removed the 4 inch turn caps in the main deck.

water

my javelin has a thru hull into the inner hull on the trans, just above the bottom edge, to drain the water out. the outer' deck drain back in the well will only remove water in the cockpit. javelin did not have 4 inch caps on the deck, perhaps this is where the last owner pumped out the boat. sounds like the rubber seals may be leaking on the keel swing bolt, which is not easy to get to. i measured to where the keel bolt is located, and put two six inch inspection ports in the flor, one on each side for easy access to the keel bolt. expect you may have to drop bow and raise stern to allow water to drain forward and pump out thru the 'caps' or hatch on the bulkhead.

keel

incase you do check keel bolt, and remove the keel to check, the keel should weigh 49 lbs. much less, from grinding off rust etc, will affect balance/stability. mine, '74, had rusted down to about 30 pounds.dr marine may have them, or local welding/machine shop can make a new one.
