Hello, I noticed today that there is water inside the compression post on my 336. Is it normal for water to get in there and if so, shouldn't it drain out the bottom? If it is not normal, how might the water be getting in there? In this case, the water level is up to within 15" of the top of the post. What may be happening is the water is collecting above the jammed counter weight for the table. I can't budge the weight up or down. I don't know how long the water has been in there, maybe all from a recent rain storm or maybe it has collected over a long perid of time. thank you, Bob Pilgrim

Remove the water

There was a discussion on this a few years ago (check archives) where someone had serious damage to the deck when the water froze. I have drilled a small hole at the base of the post and attached a short length of copper tubing to direct water into the bilge instead of having it soak into the sole.
