Thank you. You were right on. The exhaust hose is the problem. Thanks again!A couple of possibilities. Check the cockpit drain hoses for splits or leaks. Another possibility is the exhaust hose could be rotted out at the exit point but would only leak when the engine is running. The water would smell of exhaust fumes.
Thanks for the advice. As it turns out, it was the exhaust pipe. Thanks for the input.BS,
If the advice Sanfelice didn't show the problem, it could be in your rudder post. Depending on different rudder post designs & parts to stop water from coming up the tube, this would show wet around your quadrant, usually just below. Check for signs of this after sailing.

Jerry, our Hunter 28.5, starboard at the stern lazaretto has a liner that can be removed. This gave me access to a compartment where the exhaust exits the boat. I pumped 10 gallons out today. The exhaust line at the exit point leaks when the motor is running. This water did not make it to the bilge pump. bsbrownHi bsbrown
Can you tell me where you were finding this water in the stern? My H31 sits low in the water at the stern and I have always suspected water trapped in the stern but can't seem to locate it. Stern sits so low that it is above stern waterline striping causing me to have to raise my waterline next time I do a bottom job. Thanks, Jerry
