I have water in the overhead of the aft berth and in the light fixture. Any idea where it is coming from and how to stop it? I have a 1994 Hunter 26.

Anyone sleeping in the berth?
I took a large bodied Sea Scout on cruise in June once and put him in the quarter berth.
He woke me at 04:30 to tell me water was dripping on him.
No rain, no leaking hose, no gags.
Turns out he was making it rain inside the boat from sweating and breathing.

Check all hardware attachments for seal in areas above aft berth. Things like bulkhead compass, bimini mounts, or other penetrations in the combing, locker hinges etc. Cockpit table socket cracked?

Take a photo of the entire cockpit so I can see what has been added over the years which may require two photos. Usually a screw or two not caulked with add ons for example bimini bases were never caulked or simply caulk wore out. When posted, I will comment and if I cannot figure out, I will explain a sure fire way to find leaks on that boat vs. a hose being used or even raining outside.

Close the forward hatch and opening ports and you will probably need to tape the edges of the forward hatch. Then take a piece of plastic one piece that will fit over the entire companionway and tape it down as well. Put a small slit in it, insert a leaf blower and tape around that too, have someone with a bucket of soapy water with brush standing by. Turn leaf blower on to pressurize cabin and then start brushing all hardware bases and so forth and where you see air bubbling out, you found a leak.

Still need those photos.

On my '94 H26, I had some minor water in the overhead of the aft berth / below the cockpit. My boat has two removable access panels in that overhead - one is small and just below the mainsheet padeye. That padeye had worked a little loose - I had to clean and reseat with butyl and tighten. That job required removing the small access panel, and required 2 people - one in the cockpit and one in the aft berth to tighten the nuts. Also, I had some water leaking from the window over the aft berth/in the starboard cockpit seat. That did not seem to get above the aft berth overhead, and instead just came in through the window. I tightened the dogs and that seemed to fix it, but I think I need to pull all of those windows and rebed before long.

Not sure where the water is coming from but do you have an opening port on the cockpit wall stbd side to allow air into the rear berth. That was a major issue for a leak if not caulked properly or simply worn out. I have been racking my brain over this and finally this dawned on me last night. It is probably from that or the mainsheet pad eye as Jeffclown pointed out Unless something else was added to the boat in the cockpit area by previous owners in the past.

Jeffclown, thank you for your post as I did not read this until now. I think you and I covered the obvious areas. Now to find a new brain for me as CRS or old fartitis is setting in.
