Hi all. I have bought a 6 gallon hot water tank the stainless one from seward that runs off the engine as well as off shore power. I know I can stuff it in the port locker, but has anyone put one under the v berth. Would I need a pump to move the water to the tank? I have a 1979 Catalina 30.

I have a 76 Cat with a glycol/120 V water heater I think that it is 5 gal or so. It is mounted just under the ledge leading into the aft berth - right beside the locker which is next to the map table. The glycol is hosed from the engine to the heater and back to the heat exchanger. No extra pumps are needed. I have a pressurized fresh water system which pressurizes the hot water tank as well. I works very well and is out of the way. I don't know whether putting it in the V berth would cause a flow problem for your cooling system.
