We need to replace our water heater. Is it worth the extra money to purchase an all stainless steel one or is the aluminum tank with stainless housing adequate?
I opted for the stainless but the original lasted ten years. It was aluminum. It is my understanding that the material applies only to the exterior. They are the same inside. If my understanding is correct, the lifetime will be measured by the tank and fittings, not by the external packaging. Rick D.
'why do you need a stainless housing?' I bought an aluminum tank with the galvanized housing. Why not? You're not going to keep it outside are you?P.S. Rick, I spoke too soon, or is that 'too late'
I am not sure if stainless or aluminum is better, but I just bought a all stainless for real short money, and there was not a lot of difference in price between stainless and galvanized I got the best price at defender, and I think Sail-net is having a sale till tomorrow on water heaters
