Water heater making fizzy water

I have a Quick water boiler on my boat which heats water from shore power and when the engine is running.

This year the water coming from the hot spigot comes out as if its carbonated and has an odd smell.

I also noticed that my engine coolant reservoir is low (heat exchanger on engine is full though).

Is it possible that engine coolant is somehow leaking into the water heater reservoir and making it fizzy and smelly?

If you put the pink anti freeze into your hot water tank, that is probably why it is fizzing.

I get the fizz from the pink too. Need to rinse a few times to get the fizz out.
