My atomic four is equipped with Moyer bypass kit plus a new thermostat. Last time my boat was in the water I noticed no flow out the exhaust until the engine warmed up.
Please keep in mind my engine never overheated but I have been told that water should come out the exhaust even while the engine is warming up.

Thank for your responses

Hi Chief, it's been a number of years since I played with an A4 so I did a quick google. It looks like this setup should operate like this:

"The Thermostat "when operating properly" requires the bypass so the flow of water to the exhaust is not restricted by the thermostat being closed. As the thermostat opens it closses the bypass off and the "full flow" is diverted through the block. <snip>

I would guess something am be wrong with the thermostat but I'd swing over to the Moyer forums where people have direct experience with this setup. You should be able to test he thermostat pretty easily with boiling water. It looks like you should see normal water flow all the time.

I personally wouldn't run the engine until this is verified normal (which I doubt) or fixed. Let us know what you learn!

Looking at Moyer website. I mist have the check valve backwards or my ball valve is shut. Unfortunately my navy job will take me out to sea until Friday when I will check it out
