water cooling

I have an 8 year old Adler Barbour Super Cold machine. I'm moving onto a mooring this summer rather than a slip and so amp draw is a bigger issue. For the existing setup, I'm running on about a 50% on/off cycle in typical New England summer usage. What's likely to offer to biggest improvement? -adding water cooling (Expensive if I use your kit. Why does a tiny pump cost $270?) -adding insulation (not easy unless its inside the box) -adding better ventilation to the area where the compressor lives (its not terribly well ventilated now and gets quite warm in the summer. But a fan costs amps...)

Water Cooling will not offer very much current savings unless the air tempreature reaches 95 degrees at the compressor assembly. You would be much better off increasing the ventilation to the unit and upgrading the icebox, getting rid of any air infiltration such as poor seals, unsealed joints and drains. Increasing the insulation, even under the countertop will also help decrease run time.
