1983 Hunter 31.
Does anyone know what this gray hose is for in the floor of the shower?

At the base of the white wall next to the gray hose it is soft definitely some rot going on.

I am going to try and remove the wall tomorrow to check it.

On the opposite side of the wall under the bench is this:

and here is another pix

I think the Post on the left is the compression post, and it appears to be solid.

I am trying to figure out if the water is coming from the shower and the wall and the grey hose or if it is coming from above at the mast. I am at a loss of where to even start.

Looking for any suggestions and what the heck is the grey hose?

If anybody is the FortWalton Beach, FL that thinks they can help I would appreciate anything.

Have you been using the shower? The gray hose is the shower drain into the bilge.

you should remove the wood from the compression post to inspect for internal rot. This is a commom problem.

You may want to clean up the mold and see if you can determine the source of your problem.

I have an 83 Hunter 31. That gray pipe is the same as the whole of my freshwater pressurized plumbing. It is polyethylene pipe, a flexible semi rigid pipe that was used a lot in the late seventies and eighties. I believe that to be a water line. Not sure why it is there though the head sink is near there, could that be a water line used to feed the sink? In looking at the picture the teak slatted floor is missing or pulled up, The shower and head are adjacent to the bilge and drains directly into the bilge. That may indeed be the source of the water. The holding tank is in the vberth, there should be access to it under the cushions, water could be leaking from their if it is cracked. Is the boat on the hard or in the water? There are a couple of thru hulls in that area as well.

That is indeed the compression post and I would inspect it very closely. You can confirm that is a water line by looking in the deep lazarette on the starboard side. Your pressure pump and hot water heater should be in there along with the water lines leading forward. PM me if I can help.

Mine looked the same way when it rained. It ran down the tube in the mast down the compression post.

You need to remove the trim in order to check the compression post.

I previously posted that I did not have that gray hose in that location on my 83 Hunter 31. I got by the boat last niight and I do indeed have that some polyethylene pipe poking out of a corner of where the shower water gathers. It is not as long as the one in your picture but it is there. However, I have never seen evidence of water coming into that area. It remains dry unless we shower.
