I am wondering if anyone has played with water bladders under the seats port and starboard beam for added stability? We were even thinking of a reversable pump that could move water from one side to the other. Has anyone played with this?

There is not a stability issue with the h23, use some common sense as to reefing etc . On a wwp forum there was a guy who had been using bricks under his seats for added stability another books . In the event of something untoward happening any added weight on the inside of the boat would not be a good thing . I have read / heard of a system such as you describe in racing boats . To me it is not a good idea ,good luck Mike

H23 Stability

I'm with Mike. The H23 is tender but she isn't unstable. Pay attention to what you are dealing with for winds and reef early. You'll be right back at hull speed, no problem. The H23 is faster than most 23's, and plenty stable enough for a 23 foot sailboat if you are carrying the right sails for the wind conditions. I can't imagine messing around with pumping water around or carrying extra balast. All it will do is slow her down. You can slow her down and straighten her up with sail trim a lot more easily.
