water ballast issue

our 1995 26S appears to be sitting high in the water. the ballast is full yet the water line around the hull is about 6 inches above lake. any thoughts? should she ride lower? we sail with very little gear, only 2 on board and have made no heavy modifications.

Maybe the line is just too high?

You don't mention how long you've had the boat, or whether you've seen her sitting lower.

The proof is in the pudding... how dies she sail? If she feels stable reaching in a moderate breeze, there's probably no problem.

Try to find a more experienced owner of the same boat - they'll be able to confirm whether your boat is correctly ballasted.
