Water ballast boats' deck access?

I too am a big man and do exactly what you do but also hold onto the main halyard and lifeline comeing either up or down which worked well for me over the years. I like the fact of the room below.

GGW - can you access the underside of that cockpit seat soft spot? If so, it should not be hard to add some glass mat to stiffen it up.
