Does anyone know if the stock water temp, and oil pressure sending units can be used for a water temp gauge and oil pressure gauge? Can the aforementioned gauges be wired so as to retain the stock idiot lights and alarms? Thank you All

No

Gauges use different sending units than idiot lights sending unit, you have to use tee fittings to add gauge sending units thats what I did. nick

Gauges For A 2GM20F

Nick is correct - you need to install sensors on a tee fitting. If you are interested I have instructions and pictures showing how I added gauges to the 2GM20F on my H-30T (1991). Gauges are relatively easy to install and the lights/buzzer remain active. I prefer to be contacted through the Owner's Directory and will need a mailing address.

Tony: What needs to be done, is you would need to tee off the existing attachment point. You would need to place a tee in the place of the sending units and have one side go to the existing sender. Then you would need to purchase a matched set of of gauges and senders for the other side of the tee. The only major problem on the later engines (really not sure on the YSM, YSB) is that they have NPT fittings and not SAE like you would probably be purchasing. I would suggest that you contact a Yanmar distributor and get some professional advice too.
