OK I give up where is it that everyone anchor's at
Watch Hill,RI.
We were sailing past it last week and didn't
see where to anchor over night.
Looking at the charts and was puzzled,is it in
Little Narragainsett Bay.

think it's called Nappatree Point on the charts

We sheltered there once and it's a great little hole, very popular on weekends but I have no clue if there is anything in the way of restaurants or grocery stores nearby.

Yes Little Narragainsett Bay

On chart 13214 enter between Stonington point and the north end of sandy point. Follow the channel south. Between the south end of Sandy point and Napatree beach and east to Watch Hill you'll see a deeper depth contour. Sailboats and deeper draft power boats anchor there. Shallower draft boats also anchor along the south end of Sandy point and the north shore of Napatree beach. Somewhat crowded during the week when there is good weather and very crowded on weekends. Quite a bit of rafting up too. Both Sandy Point and Napatree beaches a beautiful.
The Watch Hill Inn has a web cam if you want to take a look.
There are a couple of expensive restaurants and plenty of shopping. I don't know about cruising supplies.

Tricky Entrance

Nick the entrance into the bay is tricky at Stonington and Sandy point

Turning into the channel you will be only 5-10 feet from shore.

It is a little intimidating the 1st time

Watch the channel it is shallow in some areas, but passable

I used to keep my 356 further up the river

Some folks call it "Hardware Bay

The hurricane blew everything into the bay. Apparently there are still old hardware items from the homes and cottages in there.

Stonington

Stonington is a great place to stop. I took this photo there at the end of July. Launch service is efficient, the Dog Watch restaurant has great food, mooring prices were decent.
