My waste tank meter has stopped functioning on my 2000 Hunter 290. Any idea where to cjheck for a loose wire? Doesn't appear to be to complex a system. Manual shows where waste tank is located, however I don't know how to het to it. Idea's thougts would be appreciated.

Need more info.....

What brand of gauge is it? If it is a WEMA, the problem is probably a clog and not in the wiring or electronics. If it is a Snake River or something else, then the problem could be a connection.

Mine never worked

My 2001 290 never really worked from day one,I got a new unit for the tank but not a nuff room to change it. I am working on doing something this year to change the tank unit but still checking things to make sure what is defective most likely it is the tank unit I am guessing. Take the screws out of the two teak wood molding going up and down on back wall rear berth the whole wall in between the teak molding comes out and you will see the two rear tanks and macerator.

Try this

1. Replace the sender unit crimping wire, which is fairly easy. 2. Pull the actual sending unit and replace that. It's tricky inasmuch as the new rod needs to be trimmed to exactly the length of the old rod. 3. When it's dark, use a bring flashlight on the side of the tank to simply see how full it is. This works for the holding tank as well. If the tank isn't visible through the aft lazerette, remove the aft panel and you'll see both of them. As it happens, it's pretty dark down there and the flashlight will be more useful. By the way, if the sending unit circle ever gets loose, fuel will leak into the small bilge in this area, stinking up the boat. So it's good to take the panel off anyway to see if anything is in there now.
