Waste tank "broken"

I've been unable to pump out my holding tank for a while. I finally got most of it sorted out but still couldn't pump out via the deck plate or connected directly to the barbed connector on the tank. I ended up making a "straw" to empty the tank via the cap on top. Well, now that the tank is empty the problem is obvious, the dip tube that attaches to the pump out is no longer attached and is sitting in the muck in the bottom of the tank.

Before I "dig into" the big fix how do I fix it's problem? Do I just jam the tune back into the fitting? Should I try to glue it into place? Do I have to change the whole barb fitting and dip tune as a single piece? I really am at a loss.

Thanks for any help. I'd like to make this a one time fix

Just put a 4 inch deck plate on the top of my waste holding tank. I can finally pump it out and rinse it...I don't know if this could help? Seemed to be the only answer.

Funny, I just replace my deckplate. I really don't want to be running the pump out nozzle belowdecks every time I pump out. I think I'd get a new tank before I did that!

I would think that it can be repaired but have not had exsperience with holding tanks. Not something i would want to play with thou, muk and all

Dan, depends on how the tank was made.. Some fittings are welded in and some are flanged .. If you are lucky, yours would be flanged and you can unscrew it from the tank and figure out a repair after retrieving the errant dip tube.. it may be that the tube slips into the PVC fitting and should be glued or it may have broken off .. This is a "kit" but gives ya an idea as to what to be looking for.. Many parts for "bulkhead" fittings can be found at Depot or Lowes or Ace..

I used a plastic glue/sealant to re-attach the dip tune. If this doesn't work I'll have to get a new fitting. I REALLY dislike this kinda work.
