What is the best Marine Supply store in the Washington DC area. Preferably any where from the downtown core to the Dulles Airport. Google searches only bring up West Marine. I need something a place thats less expensive.

Your best bet is to head East towards Annapolis. Lots of places there. Beacons comes to mind

By the time you fight your way out to Loudoun County (Dulles) you could be in the Sailing Capital of the United States, with multiple choices for a chandlery.

There is a minor obstacle in the Potomac River called Great Falls just a little ways up river from Washington DC.

The above posts are right. West marine is about the only game in town unless you go to Annapolis. Even in Solomon's Island the only real marine supply store is West Marine.

I have a West Marine 1/2 mile from my house. The West Marine on Route 1 in Alexandria is the best one. I usually go there if I am making a bigger purchase because the staff is friendly and they stock a lot of stuff.

Don't forget to try to price match items. Sometimes it works pretty good.

Right off the beltway on Rt 1 just before the Wilson Bridge. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

I live very near to Dulles in Loudoun County. There's nothing out this way. In Virginia the closest decent place is the West Marine in Alexandria or the one in Rockville, MD. I think Annapolis and Deale, MD offer the most choices that are closest to Dulles.
