Washing sail sock.

I just acquired a asymmetrical spinnaker with a dousing sock that needs cleaning. I am thinking about putting the sock in the washing machine at home. Sail is OK. Sail bag needs cleaning also.
It is a front loader so it will not get beat up.

Any thoughts?

My sock has a huge nylon plastic scoop, a very long loop of 7/16 braided control line and some hardware sewn into the upper end with thick straps... plus it's a lot of material. So... if I really felt the need to clean it and not deconstruct the unit to prevent its get battered in a washing machine... I'd just get a soft brush and some dish soap and wash it by hand.

I use Woolite to wash my sails, in a big tub. They come out nice and bright looking.

Just let it soak in a soap solution for a couple of days in a large bucket or tub. Stir it a couple of times a day to get and even penetration and then rinse it well and allow to dry.

While drying the sail, I washed the sock the same way with Woolite and a bit of Febreeze. Just had to get the Recycle bin freed up for the Wednesday pickup.
