We have a lot of play in the rudder and wonder if there is a washer or fitting missing between the rudder and hull. Anyone know?

where do you notice the play?

Are you checking when the boat is out of the water, or are you judging from the feel of the tiller while it is in the water? You may just need to torque down on the bolts that attach the tiller to its steel housing. Best Regards, Rob

Sheave it!

My tiller was sooo tight when I bought her that it was almost difficult to turn her. When I hauled out, we found there was a slab of milk jug being used as a sheave around the rudder post. Removed it and thought all would be well. Now I have that same play you're talking about. But honestly, I'd rather have a little play than have it as tight as it was. LaDonna
