My boat is an Oceanis 473.
I have a problem with both wash hand basins which drain very slowly. They seem to air lock. When we are under way they work fine. In harbour we have to put the plug in and pull it out very quickly, it sometimes does the trick.

Any solutions ?

I would not be surprised if every boat had this problem. The water in the sink is trying to go down. The water in the creek/river/bay/ocean is trying to push it's way UP the hose. Simply put, there is more water trying to come in than go out, so the sink water has to overcome this pressure to drain. Filled enough (which you don't want to waste water), the sink will drain. My B323 has this problem, and the drain hose is only about 18 inches almost straight down. Eventually a wake or wave or nature gets it to drain. If you're in a hurry, do the plug job unless someone else has a better method???

Thanks Ron
I reckoned that might be the problem. Just thought someone might have a simple solution I had not thought of.

Your best friend in any kind of draining/clogging problem is your dink's foot-powered air pump.
