I was working on my boat yesterday. It is definitely a requirement to inspect things annually as well as to keep your eyes open every time you are working around the boat. I noticed that my shifter cable was resting on the exhaust elbow and that the casing around it had melted quite a bit. I secured it so it wasn't resting on the exhaust anymore. It is still working okay.

Bob, mine did that 2 years ago. Fortunately it only melted slightly before I caught it. It has been secured WELL away from the exhaust elbow since!

On another note, my wife and I took the boat out this morning and hoisted the jib for the first time this season. I had been having a problem in the past with the furler jamming so tried pulling it higher this time. As a result either the top piece of the furler or the shackle end of the halyard is jammed and I can't roll the jib up or pull it down. I tried to tie it up temporarily to keep it from flapping too much and will have to go up the mast tomorrow if I can get some muscle to help me. It seems like there is always something! On the positive side, we had an enjoyable several hours sailing and even had her parents and sister along. Her mother, for years, has refused to get on a boat after a boat she was supposed to be on sank. I felt fortunate that she put aside her superstition for me. She seemed to enjoy the day. (Sorry, didn't intend to hijack your post.)

No problem! Glad to hear you had a nice sail. When raising my jib it seemed to be a little hard to hoist, but I got it to the top okay. I looked up at it to make sure it was at the top, and got a little nervous as it seemed to be too high and wouldn't have enough room at the shackle and eye to rotate. I dropped it just a couple of inches, still being sure to have a pretty big angle to avoid halyard wrap. I'll keep an eye on it as it may stretch out a little.

Did you end up changing your prop?

No, I have not changed the prop yet. I am planning to do that later in the summer or fall.

Don't forget that I have that Martec 16RH12, if that comes close. Did you run your specs through propcalc.xls?

Bob, thanks, but according to the Beta expert, I need either the 13x8 3 blade or 14x10 2 blade.
