I am getting a warning signal after about 20 minutes of running a engine rpm above 2000. If I idle back to below 2000 rpm the signal goes off after about a minute. I have checked the sea water impeller, cleaned the mixing elbow and finally removed/cleaned the heat exchanger tube. The sea water flow appears normal. Any ideas on this? Also need source for the O-ring gaskets on the heat exchanger end covers.

Engine?

What engine do you have and is raw water cooled or does it have a separate cooling system? Did you check you belts? Maybe your pump belt is slipping at high rpms.

Re: Engine?

I just had an issue with the alarm going off. Water flow through the exhaust can be deceiving. On my 2QM15 the raw water splits before it enters the engine block sending one stream to the mixing elbow while the other enters the engine. When I was trying to track mine down I noticed that the top had sheared off the front zinc. I theorized that it may have been acting like a check valve, bypassing water from the engine, but it turned out to be a blocked raw water intake. You may try pulling your intake hose off the seacock and then opening it briefly to see if there is good flow. Another way to check that is to run the intake to a bucket. If you don't have a problem at high rpm running from the bucket, you may just need to clean your through hull intake or strainer, if you have one.
