SCHOOL IS OUT!!! Our vacation plans will bring us to the Tacoma WA area about the 1st week in June. Can anyone refer me to a good place to rent a sailboat for about 2-3 hours? I would prefer something in the 30-34' LOA range. I am an ASA certified instructor through Bareboat Chartering and Coastal Navigation. I have a USCG 6-pac license and have experience on boats up to 46'. I've never been to the Pacific Northwest before and would appreciate all comments and suggestions that anyone can provide. Puget Sound Links - and Tides

You might want to start at the link below. There is one outfit listed located in Tacoma (Puget Sound Sailing Institute) although they don't look like they would fit the "daysail" desire, but they might be able to point you in the right direction. Try also this link: http://www.48north.com/ and follow some of the links there. Note that Tacoma probably has fewer daysail charter/rental opportunities than Seattle - about an hour drive north. In particular, Seattle Sailing Club at Shilshole Marina in Ballard (north Seattle) does daysail rentals. Also to consider that the low tide of the decade predicted in Seattle on June 4 at 12:25pm -4.1ft days leading up to and after will have particularly low tides. http://www.dairiki.org/tides/daily.php/sea/2004-06-04 Good luck - Enjoy your stay! Hey Jim, did you notice what Tim said about

the drive north to Seattle, being about an 'hour' long? It's about 25 miles away, right up I-5. Traffic that is as bad as any in the nation. We live on the other side of the sound and can't get there from here. :(
