i had exactly that which you describe in my ericson.
it was a thetford 875. had a handpump option that was built into boat so emptying the intrinsic 6 gal holding tank was easy and never had tyo remove any part to rid boat of effluent. i used odorlos in it to keep stink out.
i also saw same exact set up in a transat islander 44.

If the tank were larger, I'd recommend an electric diaphragm (bellows). They cost more than a macerator pump, but can run dry for several minutes without harm and last for decades with just occasional "duckbill" valve replacement. But dumping just 5 gallons plus a bucket of water to rinse out the tank is fewer than half a dozen pump strokes for a Whale Gulper...so I'd go with that.

OK, I googled whale pumper and it seems to be a macerator pump for pumpout but I was talking about the toilet flush, whether to go push button electric or bellows manual pump. Did I misunderstand?

But, but, I don't want to pump out thru hull. I'm only asking which Flush.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, finally I understand the question: SeaLand offers a portapotty--the 970 I think--with an electric flush. THAT's what he's asking about!

Jim, forget electric...go with the "bellows." Less that can fail.

OK, thats 2 votes for bellows along with my pre-disposition toward the same so the polls are now closed. Bellows wins.

I have 2007 H-36 and own it since new and my pump out overboard is the way has been doing this since at least 2000 on most sailboats that I know of having owned a 2000 Hunter
290 and also had the same setup and if you check archives you will see much talk about it.
