In the process of buying a 1995 336. It's not been modified much and I'm wondering if there are typical add-ons or changes that most owners make on their 336s. What would you recommend? Boat will cruise on Lake Michigan mostly weekends but some extended 10 day jaunts.

One of the best add ons

Ned: One of the best add-ons to any boat is a dodger and a bimini. This not only protect you from the sun and wind but also extends the *feeling* of the inside of the boat. We are able to use the boat longer and leave the companionway open when it is raining too. Probably the next option is a roller furling jib.

add ons

Add on can sometimes be a wish list!you can go crazy wanting so you need to be very realy with what you want and how much you want to spend.Bimmini and dodger(as mentioned in previous post along with roller furling) are great extras. So are electronics! I like my toys and have a gps, chartplotter and radar in addition to marine radio, cell phone. Creature comforts include a/c with reverse heat and would like to get refrigeration. So, you can see that it get expensive and personal wishs and wants become the deciding factor. For the sake of this conversation I will assume you are happy with you "gear" as far as anchors, lines, fenders etc. are concerened! Good Luck with your new boat,we love ours!

Batteries

My fellow 336 owners have made some great suggestions. I have upgraded my batteries with a dedicated starter battery (series 24) plus two house batteries (series 31). My starter battery charges first and then the other two. I cannot use my starter battery for house power unless I switch it intentionally. I also made a slide-in screen for the companionway with materials from Home Depot for cheap. Doesn't look as fancy as the wooden ones they get big $$ for a the boat shows, but keeps out the skeeters and flies great.

Biminis are a must

Hi. I just bought my 85 H34 in October and am having a blast putting new things on this boat. We have replaced all of the life lines and also added netting on the sides..sooooo nice! Also replaced the bathroom sink area with nice stuff, sink and faucet and new countertop. My largest purchase was a bimini. Big bucks but it is the only way to go. Also bought shades and next will be the boat cushions. Have fun and remember, everything that you want to do to your boat will at least be $500.00 plus.....
