Small dingy

Pretty small dingy Howard. Wonder how fast that sucker would go with a 5 hp outboard? Sorry, could not resist. Dan Jonas (S/V Feije)

Howard - look for Gear Here

Hi Howard, Our forum policies prohibit posting gear for sale, but you can offer it in our Gear Here classifieds. Just click the tab that says Boats for Sale. I'll leave this post up another day to make sure you see it. ph.

Dan, it would have to be pretty deep...

...water, but a 5 HP motor on an eight inch boat could get going really fast on its way to the bottom!

Not selling, Phil...

Phil, It seems Howard is trying to purchase a dinghy, not sell one. Granted, he still needs to go to the Gear Here section to do this, but it seemed from your post that you thought he was selling. Howard, this request is an easy one to fill at any major marine parts store-- West Marine or the like. They all sell the Walker Bay 8' dinghy for about $400, brand new (without a motor). If you need something bigger, check out the WaterTender 9.6- It's only a few bucks more, and I think it's a better workhorse (If that's what you're looking for). If you're looking for an inflatable, that's another story- Those guys are EXPENSIVE! I just sold my 2-yr old WM (Zodiac) SB-285 with a 3.5 horse motor for $900. You'll have a hard time finding an inflatable in decent shape for $4-500. --Jon

A happy purchase and value

Hello Howard, yes as another reply mentioned, the walker bay 8' is a nice little auxiliary. I started with a kyack and then went to the walker bay 8 Here in Idaho we have to pull the hunter out for the winter so after using th W B as tender with oars all summer I use it with a battery and trolling motor in fall for fishing and when I cant take it any longer I go sailing in the W B also (the marconi preformance sail kit is a real kick). A fun fast little sail boat. Small enough for pickup truck bed hauling. Good luck and enjoy!www.walkerbay.com

A Little Bitty Dinghy

Purchased a Walker Bay 8 for my h30. Weighs only 72 lbs. so is easy to launch and pull back onto the foredeck by myself, tracks straight, and there is no depreciable loss of speed while under sail. Rows easily although I do have a small outboard for it but haven't used it yet. Looking at getting the sail rig for it as that looks like it would be a real kick. -Roland s/s Fraulein II

Inflatable

I recently found a 5 year old Zodiac (no motor) with oars and wooden floor in my local classifieds for $250. It is in perficet shape, no patches, worn spots, etc. Of course, I bought it on the spot. The previous owner had retired and no longer needed it. I think this is a rare find, but with some patience and persistence, you can find deals.
