Beer can races
Hi Jim -I'd say it's mostly good news (although Windwalker is right about prevailing winds in August), since there are a number of fun, casual race series running in the summer. Of the less serious variety, Tuesday evening's Duck Dodge in Lake Union is a local favorite. The Friday night series in Lake Washington out of Kirkland is a good time also. More serious racing happens on the weekends (Shaw Island Classic Aug 6th, SYC McMurdy Cup Aug 13/14, CYC Moonlight Race Aug 20 - ok not that serious). When you get into town, head on down to Shilshole Marina in Ballard and start talking to people and read the bulletin board. Have a beer at the Sloop Tavern down the road and you're likely to find a sailor to catch up with. Feel free to drop me an email when you are in town - if I'm not available to take you out sailing I can probably hook you up with someone who can! Best,Trevortrevor@offshorestore.net
