I have a 1988 Catalina 30 that is set up to run 4 lines back to the cockpit. On both sides of the boat, beneath the traveler there is a set of 2 line guides that take the lines coming from the bottom of the mast and channel them under the traveler to the rope clutches and winches. I want to bring 8 lines into the cockpit. Is there an easy way other than just running the lines under the traveler unguided to the rope clutches. Has anyone dealt with this?

This is what I did

I did, I stacked another organizer on top of the one that is there so I could run my reefing line to the cockpit also. I used a piece of that marine plastic as a base for the new one as it was bigger than the old factory one. I bolted the new one to the plastic and screwed the plastic one in, in the original ones holes, I just needed longer bolts. It worked fine. The reefing line, linned up better too with the organizer being higher off the deck. Check it out.

B&D,
Do you have any pictures showing how you got the lines past / under the traveler? Both Jeff and I are having the same issue with the traveler on a MKII C30. I have meant to look at the bottom of the traveler to see if the 2 hole guides can be removed. Might that be an option?

If you're gonna do anything to the "holes" under the traveler, then buy new "holes" to guide your new lines because to remove them you have to take the traveler off anyway, so when it's off you can add or remove. It all depends how things line up with the lines horizontally and vertically, and only you can see that on your boat.

Do they sell a replacement part for the 2 hole line guide located under the traveler that has 4 holes?

I have 4-line deck organizers both sides and run all lines back to cockpit on my '93 C30. Easily replaced the 2-line with a 4-line organizer. Making room for additional cam cleats on the starboard side is the only issue. Next trip to the boat I'll get pix for you........

Jeff, call Garhauer. Our '86 C34 has a Garhauer traveler, so your '88 C30 may have one, too.

Thanks Stu. I called Garhauer and bought (2) four hole replacement guides which will let me take 8 lines under the traveler and back to (2) four position rope clutches.

Thanks to all !!! Problem SOLVED.

Jeff
