Are there any hidden surprises waiting me that are common to the 1989 37.5 legend? Just bought the boat the survey went well and everything so far except a few small leaks is ok. Should I be waiting for the second shoe to drop? Any information will be appreciated.

Holding Tank?

If your holding tank is aluminum, and has not been replaced, you are probably due. Rick D.

My Holding Tank is Poly

I Have an '88 Legend 37 and all of my tanks (Holding, Water, Fuel) are poly. Thank Goodness! :)

Fantastic boat

Good looking, well laid out, strong and stable. Fast as hell. Good luck with her.

Thanks for the response. Do you own a 37.5 Legend? Where do you sail?

I love mine

Lots of room, fast, all the lines run back to the cockpit so single handing is easy, what is not to like?

'89 was...

1st year for aluminum holding tanks so unless it was a "transition" boat where they were using up old parts, it more than likely had aluminum as an original tank. If it's been changed to poly, you're in good shape. Other than that issue, the 37.5 Legend is one of the best boats Hunter ever made in it's side.

I have the baby brother (sister), 35.5. Both have similar characteristics. I agree with Honeyman, these are among the best boats that Hunter ever built. My sailing grounds are primarily Long Island Sound.

Mine's a 1992. Easy to singlehand. Fast. Has taken us safely through all kinds of conditions. Great for living aboard for months at a time. Just love it. Gary Wyngarden S/V Wanderlust h37.5

I too love mine

I purchase mine in 2000. She is a 1987, Hunter 37. Can anyone please advise me on how to remove my aluminum holding tank. I recently changed my fuel tank, that was easy. Also, if any of you have the same Hunter, tell my if you have an autopilot. What brand and if you are happy with it. I am looking to purchasing one. Thanks for your response.

I have an '88 legend 37...

...and bought it in late 1994. She is a sound boat and plenty of room for two. She has taken us many miles and enjoy her emmensely. 14 seasons and still counting. I just changed the instruments this year.

Love Ours Too

We have a 1996 37.5 and we are very happy with it. First big boat I have owned and glad we chose this boat. Has the room of a 40 footer and a 'frig that can handle plenty of food and drinks. We have an ST4000 Auto Pilot and it works great. The fluxgate compass unit is located in the middle of the stern berth back wall where it meets the ceiling. This is actually just under and a little forward of the steering post. It seems to be the location of choice for installers of this unit as I have talked to several electronic shops about the location. Only real problems we have had were with the roller furling line and the reefing lines. I replaced the roller furling line with a new 3/8" line rather than a 7/16" line and it works much better. Same issue with the reefing lines. The old 7/16" line hangs up when raising the main sail and causes much cursing. I have all the reefing lines pulled out so as to minimize this problem but I really think I am going to replace them with good 3/8" line also. The 3/8" line is not as friendly to the hands but I can live with that. Good Luck with your "new" boat. Tom S/V At Last
