A thread below suggested an Icom GP-360ML from Boat US for $220. Lots of good features for a cheap price but no WAAS. I can understand the comfort factor with WAAS but the $500 difference for the new units makes me consider going for it. Even the small hand helds are around $200 and the Icom beats them hands down. What are your thoughts? THANKS!

WAAS $500 more !?! I don't think so.

Even the cheapest garmin handheld units have WAAS. It shouldn't cost the GPS manufacturer more money to add WAAS capability, its supposed to be only a software change. (Unless it was designed poorly from the start). The link below shows about 6 handheld WAAS units under $200

I use a handheld...

GPS on my boat with a mount and power cord. It is WAAS and was not that expensive. It is a Magellan Marine and works great for me. Fair winds Gerry
