On top of my Yanmar 3YM20G motor there's a water hose that runs very tightly behind a thick, metal, motor lifting tab. The tab makes contact with the hose and it seems that eventually the engine vibration could cause the sharp edge of the tab to wear through the hose, no doubt, Murphy being Murphy, at a most inopportune time.
To prevent this I took a couple of short, thick pieces of clear tubing and cable tied them as a sacrificial buffer between the lifting tab and the water hose.
