Hi All,
Hope your day is rolling along nicely.
I bought an MD2B and am working on it.
This is the Air Filters or Air Cleaners.
Basically they I guess stop bugs from coming in or small things.
It doesn't open and there is just a metal screen.
The previous owner painted stuff to cover the rust.
I removed the paint and can now see the rust.
The item attaches to a magnet.
Sparks but
Not sure what metal.
I can grind it with my dremel and a 8193 to what looks like the original metal.
Any suggestions here ?
Do I clean it to the base metal and then brush some clear Cote rust inhibitor.
Any suggestions ?
Do I clean it and then use rust primer
then use a "primer" for the metal.
then paint it with the Volvo Green or whatever color.
I don't mind doing maintenance 10 years from now.
Just don't want to strip all the rust and have it rust back in a few months.
Thank you
Photos.
Engine is not mine but that is what they look like on the one in my boat and the old photos.
62, 63 and 61 are just after paint removal.
64 is after I worked on it a bit with the dremel, you can see the nice clean metal under it.
