Any body has had a good experience with a Volvo diesel engine mechanic in the area of Salem-Marblehead-Beverly Mass that is willing to share? My first encounter with a Volvo "certified" mechanic cost me an arm and a leg for just a 50 Hour checkup and didn't find a major problem it had at the time. My second and last encounter was not any better. Not only they missed that the engine was lacking a mounting nut at first, but after I realized the missing nut and had one added, they returned the boat without re-aligning the engine. Since then, I have made all my regular oil and filter service but time has come for a more comprehensive maintenance. Suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I am hoping

Mechanics I have used

Jose, I have personally used Tom Cloutman of Cloutman Marine Services in Marblehead and Adam Doliber of Doliber Marine Services in Salem, and was very impressed with them both. The guys really know their stuff, and are both reasonable. By sailing buddy swears by the mechanics at Winter Island Yacht Yard, I know Peter whom owns it, but haven't had him work on my boat yet. Hope this helps. Todd

Thanks Todd

I met Tom once and he seemed very competent and decent. He was going to help me change my boat's shaft last year but it turned out I was able to do it myself before he had time for it. I am pretty sure he is a great mechanic but, for warranty reasons, I need to get a Volvo certified mechanic. I will check if Adam Doliber is Volvo certified but I know that the Winter Island Yard guys don't work on Volvos . Thanks a lot for the info and looking forward to meeting you aboard Ipanema this summer if you come by our mooring (#911) near the red buoy "2" of the Salem channel.
