Volvo 2003

Have pulled my engine. It ingested some water into number two cyliner caused buy the exhaust rusted thru. So was looking for cylinder liners. Volvo doesn't list any. Can anyone tell me if they know of a source. The cost of reboring and new over sizes pistons is way out of normal range.

With the price of Volvo parts could get a good used Yanmar. The problem with that is this has a V-Drive which is also Volvo. Not sure if could be adapted.

Anyone have experience with the 2000 series engines?

Any help would be appreicated.

Local Machine Shop

You might get the offending liner out, and take it to a local machine shop. It's possible they can make one, or modify one to fit. A cylinder liner is not a complicated piece to make, and they are basically cast iron. There was a man from New Zeland named Burt Monroe, who set a record at Bonneville years ago that still stands. He made the sleeves for his Indian motorcycle from cast iron sewer pipe.

Well after pricing all the parts needed to make this a good engine again it is time to find replacement. If you know of anyone who has a good used Perkins 4-108 please let me know.
