Peggy, I received an e-mail from a colleague. Attached to it was a letter written by the NMMA supporting the industry position to voluntarily eliminate Y-valves from new boats. Additionally, they support increasing fees charged for pumpouts. Are you aware of these proposals and what is your opinion? If you send me (Owner Directory) or post your e-mail address, I will send you the letter. PS. I checked the NMMA website and found no reference to this letter.

Y-valve installation

I work for a boatyard, and there are several manufacturer's (sp?) that already do that. I know, because owners pay us $65 per hour plus parts to install overboard discharge systems in their brand new boats. : )

I'd like to see this letter

My e-mail address is in ALL the owners directories. I'll reserve judgment till I read it...but on the surface this sounds like another load of BS from the "no discharge" enviro-nazi crowd, supported by pumpout equipment mfrs. Please send it to me! p.s. $65/hr doesn't sound unreasonable...but how long can it take to cut a hose, install a y-valve, and run a hose to a thru-hull???

$165.00

After installing one on my H-27 1990 I could easily see $165.00. Working in that little hole nothing goes right, they don't design these to work on very easy,HA-HA Smile! .
