The voltmeter on the engine console of my 1994 270 just stopped registering. Perkins M18. Batteries still charging, just the guage is not reading anything. Loose wire? or bad gauge? Anyone encounter this before?

your analysis. Bad wires, bad connections (BOTH ends) or a bad gage. Can't be anything else.
