A friend that has a Vision 36' would like to shorten the mast to allow bridge passing. Anyone have experience with having it done?

Interesting idea
but likely a difficult one to execute. The mast is tapered, so it would have to be shortened at the bottom. Then you would have sizing problems with the mast step and deck collar, although I suppose you could add material to fit each. Then all the boom and vang mounts and mast steps would need to be moved and possibly the halyard exits. Beginning to sound a bit expensive. I think you would have to compare that to a new mast. Sources were listed in a V32 discussion some time ago. Might check archives. Rick D.

mine's 45'
We have an 89 Vision 32 which we bought 4 years ago., the original owner had the mast shortened to 45' for intracoastal bridges..it was apparently done by the dealer (Berkins Marine/Pensacola) who is no longer in business.. apparently it was taken off the top, everything works great
