I am trying to purchase replacement plexiglass windows for the side openings on my Vision 32. Hunter has put me in contact with Spartech Marine in Rockledge, Florida, who made the original plexiglass windows for the Vision, as well as many other Hunters. Spartech has the original patterns, but claim to have lost the molds they use to bend the plexiglass to match the curve of the hull. On the Vision 32, the side windows are about 6' long, with a slight curve. Spartech seems to be very knowledgable about plexiglass window glazing for boats, and has said that these windows (7/16" thick) are very rigid and will be extremely difficult to bend to the shape of the hull without prebending with heat. Hunter says it shouldn't be that hard to do, and didn't think they were prebent, but Spartech says they were. Spartech says they can make them for me, but they are pretty expensive and won't guarantee they will work without pre-bending. Its my nickel.I'm sure some other Vision owners have replaced these side windows. How did you do it? Did you purchase them pre-bent? If not, how did you hold them in place until the structural adhesive sealant set up enought to hold them? There are several screws in the window, but I'm not sure they would hold against a lot of tension.Right now, I'm looking for advice, hopefully from someone who has done this on this model boat or one similar. The side windows are very crazed and really need replaced. Advice from this forum is always helpful.
